Personal Defamatory Attacks

In a complaint to Nominet about the domain name nemaritimetrust.co.uk by the Chair of NEMT he mentions personal defamatory attacks which include malicious and incorrect information which have been made against him and some possibly were but they were not made by the owner of the domain nemaritimetrust.co.uk. In fact the available evidence shows that flow of malicious and incorrect information was in the other direction and particularly against Mr Dawson:-

15-Mar-24, AR to PW: I also notice that Mick Dawson (NFHT) has conspired to scam our website with similar unauthorised data, blocking any input from NEMT.
An attempt to remove his access from our website about two years ago has obviously been circumvented, these actions must be removed immediately.

15-Mar-24, KB to PW: Are you implying that a member of NEMT is responsible for this disgraceful personalised and aggressive attack.
I believe the person in question is in fact a member of NFHT board and has not been a member of NEMT for several years. – Mr Barnard (KB) was referring to Mr Dawson.

17-Mar-24, KB to MD: I note that you are not a member of NEMT but are a director of nfht whom, I assume you speak for. I am an elected member of NEMT and was elected by the membership because they wished me to take that position. It’s called democracy.
The reason you have not seen the minutes is because you are not a member, just thought I would clear that question up for you.

One can only assume that Mr Barnard was told I was not a member of NEMT by Mr Renwick but he does not apologise until the 26th:-

26-Mar-24, AR to MD: Michael, After checking our up to date membership record, it does confirm that your membership is paid up until October.
So apologies for the delay in getting back to you.
However, with a view to your recent actions, future membership compatibility will be discussed at our next Trustee meeting on 30th April.

In April Mr Renwick adopts a theme that the site nemaritimetrust.co.uk had been stolen by me from from the hosting company:-

12-Apr-24, AR cc MD: After some considerable investigation it is now apparent that our nemaritimetrust.co.uk website has been stolen and transferred to Nominet from our hosting company TSO HOST.
We suspect that an aggrieved member of this Charity is responsible and request that a reversal should take place immediately. It is believed that the email address concerned is: daw50nmdj@hotmail.co.uk.

It is not his website and it had not been stolen. It had been transferred to IONOS by its owner and we see nothing from him until the end of May:-

29-May-24, AR to MD: Michael, As you know I offered to talk to you sometime, but you refused.
You also stated in passing “that I would know why”

I had taken the opportunity to visit NEMT on a launch day and firstly, he interrupted a conversation I was having about the slipway carriage becoming stuck and secondly I told him to put what he wanted to say to me in writing, so that any misinformation about the website nemaritimetrust.co.uk would be recorded i.e. libellous rather than slanderous.

Mr Dawson sees nothing in print until Mr Renwick writes to the Trustees of NFHT in mid June, not knowing that he had resigned from his Trusteeship in mid April:-

18-Jun-24, AR to 8 members of NEMT: Dear All, As you will be aware the previously transferred to NEMT, owned and paid for nemaritimetrust.co.uk Website has been stolen by Mick Dawson who appears to have taken advantage of its unlocked status.

The site is owned by Mr Dawson and not by anyone else so Mr Renwick’s accusation of theft is wrong and he goes on:- Following a long series of objectionable email messaging and subsequent threats therein haven’t helped to improve this situation, but have simply made matters much worse.

There is not one objectionable email from Mr Dawson, so who are they from? It looks as if though those with an interest in the repair and maintenance of traditional fishing vessels of the North East of England are beginning to question why the Chair of NEMT is refusing access to the only slipway in the North East that is suitable for such work.

18-Jun-24, AR concludes: I simply ask all at NFHT to make Mick Dawson see sense and transfer our nemaritimetrust.co.uk website back to NEMT where it belongs.
As ever, I’m always available to talk in an attempt to end with a satisfactory conclusion.
Unfortunately until that happens NEMT will not be in a position to discuss any future NFHT collaboration or plan vessel repairs on these premises.

The last time Mr Dawson thought to trust Mr Renwick he soon realised it was a very bad mistake because posts like the example from Z of the 23rd June started to appear on the site nemaritimetrust.co.uk:-

~~.co.uk is now with a different provider.
