The self-appointed Chair of NEMT says on this Website:-
Welcome to the only official North East Maritime Trust website. Based in South Shields, Tyne and Wear, England, we restore repair, maintain and sail important historic boats.
A view from the nemaritimetrust.co.uk’s owner:-
The only official North East Maritime Trust website was created on the 14-Oct-22 and appears to be based on the views of the current Chair of NEMT which fails to mention all the work done by the Trust since it inception 2003 and the award of its charitable status in early 2007 and much of the work done by the Trust’s members since 2007.
One can view the complete newsletter for September on nemaritimetrust.co.uk and while it is about the relaxation of the Covid restriction there are two items about the NEMT boats, the Bedford Lifeboat and the Royal Diadem II, the Lifeboat being in storage and latter moored safely on the Tyne in front of the Workshop and judging by the length of time since she was last hauled out she will be well overdue for a clean-up below the waterline.
The only official North East Maritime Trust website goes on to say:-
Our volunteers can participate in all aspects of boat building and care. Every week we offer hands on training and skills development, keeping alive the traditions of wooden boats on the North East coast. We also hold regular sailing days, and educational and promotional events.
Why not join our friendly team of volunteers?

© 2026 and I repeat:- The only official North East Maritime Trust website was created on the 14-Oct-22 and appears to be based on the views of the current Chair of NEMT which fails to mention all the work done by the Trust since it inception 2003 and the award of its charitable status in early 2007 and much of the work done by the Trust’s members since 2007.
*The restoration of, Rachel Douglas, Favourite, Sovereign and the coble, Peggy are completely missing from the only official North East Maritime Trust website as published by the self appointed Chair of the North East Maritime Trust.

Alec Renwick was aware of the early history NEMT and in particular the restoration of the fishing vessels Rachel Douglas and Favourite and the coble Peggy and he should be asked why he chose to delete all references to the Rachel D and Favourite when he was given permission to correct any errors that he believed had been made in any of the posts in nemaritimetrust.co.uk by their author of many years.
