Any other Business
| a. | The chairman announced that the Secretary, P.Weightman, had offered to stand down and that he, A.Renwick, would be taking over as Secretary for the time being. A.Finnegan objected and stated that the appointment is at the discretion of the Trustees only. P.Weightman said that he had not resigned but that all officers should be reviewed by the Trustees after every general meeting. | Sue Griffiths was recognised and thanked for her bookkeeping role; members gave their thanks and applause. |
| b. | Events: R.Branson gave a report on proposed events for attendance by NEMT this year, including Blyth Old Gaffers Association meeting, Bridlington Coble Festival, Cullercoats Lifeboat Day, and Tynemouth Lifeboat Day. There would be coble sailing most Saturdays over the summer. | M Dawson raised a question about why NEMT couldn’t pay NFHT an assumed debt owing “due to NEMT having over £48.000 in the bank” in reply, the Chairman pointed out that the accounts quite clearly state that his assumption was incorrect and that a payment was soon to be agreed with NFHT anyway. |
| c. | D.Parker detailed the work in progress on our 2 coble Royal Diadem II. | A Renwick told the meeting of a potential “Historic Harbour” on the Tyne at the new Holborn Development; while talks continue with Council officials continue details are currently a matter of confidentiality. |
| d. | A.Finnegan reported on the planned rowing of our lifeboat Henry Frederick Swan and the work being undertaken by D.Seymour in manufacturing new oars for this vessel. | A. Smith thanked the “back room boys” to applause from those present. |
| e. | Accountants: It was agreed that Quantum continue to undertake the consultant accounting function for NEMT. | Chairman final comment which stated that along with other events at Blyth etc. NEMT would be taking part in the Hartlepool Tall Ships event as harbour viewable exhibits to include the Henry Frederick Swan lifeboat. |
| f. | A.Smith expressed his thanks for the contribution of all in the workshops. |
1 – no month given, so assume Mr Lund implied March in 2023, therefore not March 2022.
2 – NFHT’s and NEMT’s coble. NFHT (later the NFH) were group of NEMT members who looked after all the vessels ‘rescued’ by NEMT over the years with the possible exception of the Henry Frederick Swan.
